Lisa Thomas focuses on intellectual property disputes with an emphasis on complex patent litigation. She has served as a trusted advisor to her clients as they navigate all phases of litigation, including pre-suit strategy development, fact and expert discovery, pre-trial and post-trial practice, and appeals.  

Lisa’s strategic approach is informed by her experience representing both patent holders and accused infringers. Lisa uses her engineering degree to understand technology in various disciplines, including biotechnology, pharmaceuticals, chemistry, oilfield services, and software. In addition to patent litigation, Lisa has prepared and prosecuted patent applications and is experienced in post-grant proceedings that occur in conjunction with litigation. 

Lisa has been licensed to practice before the United States Patent and Trademark Office since 2007, and prior to law school, she was a patent agent at a large law firm. She excels at interpreting complex issues to aid her clients in developing strategies to accomplish their business objectives.

Through her work in representing both plaintiffs and defendants, Lisa offers a comprehensive perspective in a wide range of complex patent litigation in venues across the nation.

  • Prosecuted patent infringement case regarding method for manufacturing polymers in the Southern District of Texas and Southern District of Georgia.

  • Prosecuted multiple Hatch-Waxman Act patent infringement cases involving the crystalline form of the active ingredient for Nasonex® in New Jersey and Delaware federal courts.

  • Prosecuted patent infringement claims involving technology related to Google Earth in Delaware federal court.

  • Defended a subsidiary of the world’s largest manufacturer of heating, ventilation and air conditioning products in a patent case related to software controls for HVAC technology in Delaware federal court. 

  • Defended one of the nation’s largest trade and mercantile exchanges in a case related to data compression patents in the Southern District of New York.

  • Prosecuted patent infringement case concerning nucleotide modification and detection technologies on behalf of a major life science corporation and a world-renowned university in the District of Connecticut.
